While they were all in college, Talbot Adeline Cushing’s best friend was dating Jon-Thomas Dixon’s best friend; these two friends very casually introduced them to one another. Despite the casual introduction, Talbot knew from the moment they met that she would marry Jon-Thomas, but she wasn’t ready to admit it just yet. They got to know one another for eleven months, and their feelings deepened. Eventually, they became a couple.
Almost three years later, the two were planning to visit Talbot’s family in Woodville, MS, for her birthday. As she was getting ready for her “birthday dinner,” Jon-Thomas surprised her with a rack full of white dresses and said, “Choose the dress you want to get engaged in.” They then drove to her family’s beautiful property with a beautiful set-up, and he popped the question!
Just as Talbot knew Jon-Thomas was the one as soon as they met, they both had a feeling about the Windsor Court Hotel the moment they stepped into the space. They just knew it was the place they would marry, which they did on December 6th, 2025.
Before the wedding began, Jon-Thomas and Talbot shared a private “first touch.” Rather than a first look before the ceremony, they stood back-to-back, holding hands and talking. Both tend to get anxious in front of crowds, and the first touch had a grounding, calming effect that enabled them to be fully present in the moment. Fifteen minutes after the first touch, they saw one another for the first time as Talbot walked down the aisle.
After Dr. Timothy Lindsey pronounced them husband and wife, the celebration kicked into high gear as guests sipped “The Dixon,” a twist on the classic holiday cocktail The Poinsettia. The cocktail paired beautifully with the stellar menu created by the team at the Windsor Court. While the entire selection of food was incredible, the star of the show was the truffle gnocchi!
The newlyweds and their guests savored and sipped surrounded by a stunning array of white orchids and greenery. These florals elegantly complemented the ivory and chocolate brown decor, creating a classic, vintage atmosphere.
This vintage feel lent itself to the couple’s first dance to “Everybody Loves Somebody” by Dean Martin. Though they originally had another song picked, they heard Martin’s timeless song the week before the wedding and knew it was the perfect fit. In classic New Orleans fashion, they ended the evening with a second line.
Following the excitement of the wedding, Jon-Thomas and Talbot took a week to unwind in Cancun, Mexico, at the Excellence Coral Playa Mujeres. They then returned to their home in Monroe, LA, where Jon-Thomas works as a farmer and Talbot owns a business called “From The Krewe,” which sells hand-painted antique and vintage plates.
