With this Ring: Via y Rada – Meyer

During her second week in college, Nicole Via y Rada joined a dating app, writing in her profile that her ideal date was a pepperoni pizza, a side of fries and a long movie. Jeremy Philip Meyer responded, messaging her about splitting a pizza and watching National Treasure. Unbeknownst to Jeremy, National Treasure is Nicole’s favorite movie! Soon, they met up for a walk around campus and talked for hours. This walk led to another, and they quickly became a couple.

Eight years later, Nicole and Jeremy were spending Christmas Eve at his family home. As she was helping in the kitchen, Jeremy took Nicole’s hand and led her to the library, where candles were lit and flowers were on the table. He got down on one knee and proposed with a ring custom designed by his mother, a local jeweler. Through a haze of happy tears, Nicole said “yes,” and when they walked out of the library, they met their families, waiting with open arms.

Every step of the way, family was at the heart of their journey toward the big day. In addition to creating the engagement ring, Jeremy’s mother lovingly crafted their wedding rings as well. They placed these rings on one another’s fingers on October 18, 2025, in front of a stunning chuppah in the courtyard of the Audubon Tea Room. For their kiddush cup, they borrowed Jeremy’s grandparents’ silver chalice, gifted to them on their 50th anniversary.

After Rabbi Daniel Sherman pronounced the couple husband and wife, the festivities moved indoors, where the green and lilac decor created a whimsical garden party. Rabbi Sherman blessed the food before guests enjoyed a meal created by Dicke Brennan’s, beautifully complemented by two specialty cocktails. The first, a gin French 75, was a New Orleans classic and a nod to Jeremy’s hometown. The second, named the Hankie Pankie after the newlyweds’ dog, was a chilcano, a Pisco-based Peruvian cocktail. This cocktail was a nod to Nicole’s culture and was a huge hit with the 30 Peruvians who had traveled to celebrate!

Some of those guests may have recognized the topper on the cake–the same one Nicole’s parents used on their wedding day. Both sets of parents beamed with pride as Jeremy and Nicole danced to “To Be Loved” by Jackie Wilson, a song they love for its big-band sound and heartfelt lyrics. Blue Rhythm kept the dance floor energized throughout the evening, which was finished off with a set from Hora Loca, a Latin DJ.

Nicole and Jeremy then set off for their first big adventure as a married couple, a two-week honeymoon to Morocco. They were fascinated with the architecture, the colors and the value placed on artisanship and tradition. The trip struck the perfect balance between exploration and relaxation, topped off with amazing food.

Their next adventure soon followed; Jeremy and Nicole recently moved into their new home in Uptown. Jeremy is a defense attorney, and Nicole is an Executive Producer at WDSU.
