NEW ORLEANS – WWNO New Orleans Public Radio station announced its first benefit concert to celebrate Public Radio Music Day.
The concert, which proceeds will benefit WWNO and its programming, will take place Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Broadside (600 N. Broad). from 5-7:30 p.m.
The event website says for guests to bring your dancing shoes, your kids and get ready to boogie, as the event will feature music by Stanton Moore featuring Joe Ashlar, Danny Abel and Brad Walker, and Big Sam’s Funky Nation. Additionally, there will be some appearances by WWNO hosts and staff.
“With the recent loss of federal funding, WWNO is now a public radio station that is 100% community supported,” said General Manager Paul Maassen in the announcement about the concert. “We hope everyone will join us as we chart a new course of financial independence – put on your dancing shoes, bring the kids, and get ready to connect with your fellow public radio lovers!”
