NEW ORLEANS (press release) – YEAH! YOGA (Youth Empowerment and Healing), a New Orleans non-profit dedicated to sharing the tools of yoga and mindfulness with youth involved with and impacted by the criminal legal system, is hosting its first ever YEAH! YOGA Gras Challenge. Through the social media-based challenge, participants have a chance to win handcrafted trophies decorated by local Mardi Gras and Dance Krewes.
“We wanted to find a way to keep the creativity of Mardi Gras going, while raising critical funds to support youth that are incarcerated or otherwise impacted by the criminal legal system” says Bonita Day, co-founder of YEAH! YOGA. The challenge invites people to do one yoga pose a day during the 10 days of parades that would typically precede Mardi Gras.
Participants are encouraged to recruit 20 friends to give them $21 for an amazing 2021! Participants can join as individuals or as teams and can participate during all 10 days or any number of days. There are 21 prizes total for creativity, engagement, most funds raised, and best costume. No yoga experience required. The challenge begins on Feb. 5 and ends on Mardi Gras day. Participating krewes/groups creating handcrafted one of a kind trophies include: Krewe of Red Beans, Pussyfooters, Joan Of Arc, Disco Amigos and many more.
