Zoo-To-Do for Kids presented by Children’s Hospital New Orleans Postponed

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Due to the significant increase of COVID-19 cases among children in the Greater New Orleans area, Audubon Nature Institute is postponing Zoo-To-Do for Kids presented by Children’s Hospital New Orleans until Friday, Nov. 12.

Zoo-To-Do for Kids presented by Children’s Hospital New Orleans was scheduled to be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Audubon Zoo. Audubon is working closely with long-time partner Children’s Hospital to determine the best plan moving forward.

“We are disappointed that we won’t be able to enjoy Zoo-to-Do for Kids as originally planned, but are hopeful that by following safety protocol and continuing to encourage our community to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, it will be safe for us to gather together again soon, and celebrate all that this wonderful event has to offer for families across our community,” said President and CEO of Children’s Hospital New Orleans John R. Nickens IV.

Tickets to the event, including Sponsor and Patron packages, will be transferred to Nov. 12.

“We look forward to welcoming local families to mission-focused fundraisers that ignite passion to make our community and world a better place each year, but rescheduling this event is the right thing to do,” said Audubon Nature Institute President and CEO Ron Forman. “The health and safety of our guests and our entire community are Audubon and Children’s Hospital’s top priorities.”

Audubon is consulting with local public health officials to determine next steps for Hancock Whitney Zoo-To-Do on Friday, September 17. As planned, the event will include enhanced health and safety protocols that adhere to the City of New Orleans current guidelines. The 2021 Lexus Vehicle Raffle and Luxury Raffle drawings will occur as planned.

Funds raised from Zoo-To-Do events fund critical operations such as caring for animals, public parks, and museums that Audubon stewards for the New Orleans community.

The 2021 Zoo-To-Do events celebrate Audubon’s conservation efforts for whooping cranes, an endangered species that neared extinction in the 1940s. Audubon has long been a leader in conservation of these majestic birds and continues to work on their behalf through the Alliance for Sustainable Wildlife, Audubon’s conservation breeding partnership with San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.
